In 2013, HourofCode.org was launched and has been growing every year. At King Middle School, all students in grades 6, 7, & 8 participate in the Computer Science Education Week in December with their science teachers. Doing Scratch, Khan Academy sessions, or Hour of Code, gets old for 8th graders since they have done it the last 2 years. For the past 2 years, I have collaborated with the 8th grade science teachers to offer a day of more hands on coding. Stations using Ozobots, Spheros, Lego, Perler Beads, Made with Code, Snap Circuits, and Bloxels had proven successful in showing students a bit more ways code can create and work. In this session, I will explain the collaboration aspect and then have stations set up for attendees to do some hands on coding.
