This session will focus on a library program designed by Nancy Evans entitled Cultivating Strong Girls: Library programming that builds self-esteem and challenges inequality. The session will detail how to implement this program and tailor it to the needs of your school. The program is designed to build relationships with students by incorporating books, media, primary sources, activities, and conversations, in a way to draw in girls who need help in building their self-esteem and developing leadership skills. Using statistical data and edgy topics this program introduces girls to resources and actions that can help them understand and deal with societal constructs.
